2012 Hay Season Pricing Information**

Mowing/Conditioning $14.00 per acre *
Raking $ 5.00 per acre
Round Bales $ 8.00 each *
Square Bales $ .50 cents each
Milage $ 1.00 per mile *

* Mowing/Conditioning: This first step is the most time, and fuel consuming part of the hay process. It requires approximately 6 hours to mow and condition 25 acres of hay ground. This is also the most important involvement that you, the customer, will have with us. This is your opportunity to outline property boundaries, obstacles, natural springs, and potential hazards that could be encountered, hidden by tall standing hay, which can severely damage our equipment.

* Milage: This fee will be incurred only by customers who live more than 5 miles from our farm, and will be charged only one way, for a maximum of two trips. The tractor must make two trips to your location. Once with the mower/conditioner, and the second with the rake a couple of days later. The bailer will be brought by truck later in the day after the raking.

Example: If you live 12 miles from our farm, you would incure a charge of $24.00 for milage. Two trips, one way only.

* Round Bales: This price is for full size 4 X 5 bales. Undersize bales, usually the last bale, will be charged half price. Bales that may be unusable due to bailer malfunction will be credited in full for the estimated value of the hay. Although this is extremely rare, it can happen. Smaller bales, as small as 4 X 3, will be priced as agreed upon between us and the customer.

Professional Invoicing: All completed jobs will be invoiced in a professional manner that is suitable for tax purposes, as much of our services are tax deductible depending on your individual situations.

Summary: How does all this add up? Depending on your stand of hay, the average cost of producing one 4 X 5 round bale after incurring all costs as outlined above, is normally less than $12.00 each. The average selling price of one 4 X 5 bale of quality hay is $25 to $30 each, therefore, even after factoring in property taxes on your ground, fertilizer and/or lime, and upkeep, your profit margin is outstanding, not to mention affordable feed for your own use.
